Flagystatin uses/ indications

Flagystatin is used for treating various vaginal infections owing to C. albicans and Trichomonas vaginalis. It also may be used in taking care of other infections not cited in the list detailed above.

Contraindications

  • Sensitive to any of the active ingredients found in Flagystatin.
  • Should not be used concurrently with oral metronidazole in subjects with active neurological problems or a past record of blood dyscrasia, hypoadrenalism or hypothyroidism except in the judgment of the doctor the benefits overshadows the potential danger to the subject.

Special Precautions

Administration in pregnancy: It is not recommended to administer Flagystatin for the duration of the 1st half of pregnancy and particular concern with the application of the applicator is suggested in late pregnancy. It must not be applied beyond the 6th month of pregnancy.

Flagystatin Side Effects

Occasional and insignificant Flagystatin side effects observed to date consist of vaginal inflammation and granular feeling, queasiness and vomiting, bitter taste, previously identified to happen with metronidazole was used concurrently with Flagystatin local therapy. Contact Your Doctor

Contact your doctor as soon as possible if the following side effects become severe:

  • Darker urine
  • Constipation
  • Dry mouth
  • Headache
  • Minor itching, burning, or irritation in the vagina
  • Vomiting

Contact your doctor right away for the following side effects:

  • Difficulty moving
  • Fast or skipped heartbeats
  • Flu like symptoms (cold, shivering, fever, sore throat and extreme tiredness)
  • Depression
  • Any sign of liver problems like nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, weight loss, yellowing of the skin or whites of the eyes, dark urine, and pale stools.

Stop taking Flagystatin immediately if you have the following side effects:

  • Chest pains
  • Seizures
  • Signs of meningitis (headache, stiff neck, confusion, sudden high fever, nausea and vomiting)
  • Signs of a serious allergic reaction such as difficulty breathing, abdominal cramps, nausea and vomiting, or swelling of the face and throat
